Frances M. Strawniak, 98 of Port Vue, died on May 23, 2016. Born May 6, 1918 in New Castle, PA she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maryanna Kwiatkowski Kachmar. When she was 4 years old her family went on what was supposed to be a vacation to Poland and they ended up staying for 7 years.  She was a good storyteller and often told stories about her time there.She married Ignatius (Nick) Strawniak on June 12, 1937.  He passed away at the age of 49 on July 4, 1960. Always good at sewing, crocheting and crafting; she took lessons in tailoring and went to work as a professional tailor/seamstress.  She had been employed by J.C. Penney, Immel's and Pam's Bridal Shop.  She also made many prom gowns, bridal gowns, bridesmaid and communion dresses as well as crocheting baby blankets for her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in McKeesport and a former member of Steelworkers OldTimers Assoc. Survivors include her son Harold Strawniak with whom she resided and was her main caregiver; daughter Arlene (Edwin) Mushalko of White Oak; son Lawrence (Kathy) Strawniak of Mt. Lebanon and son Frank (Barbara) Strawniak of McKeesport. She is also survived by seven dear grandchildren; Lisa, Timothy, Michelle, Lori, Kristine, Sheri and Denise; and by eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Julian Kaczmarcyk and Joseph Kachmar and sisters Nora Kolenda, Veronica Hale, Julia Yarosz, Valerie Tworck, Helen Trimble and her beloved grandson Paul E. Mushalko. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9.  A blessing at the Funeral Home will be on Saturday at 9:30am. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church.  Fr. Bruce Sleczkowski will officiate. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. We would also like to thank her caregivers, especially Amber. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church, 1921 Eden Park Boulevard, McKeesport, PA 15132.
