Theresa L. Brzek

Theresa L. Brzek, age 87, of McKeesport, died February 24, 2018, at UPMC Presbyterian. Born July 14, 1930, in Wilmerding, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Apolonia (Szczypek) Lorenc and the wife of the late Stanley F. Brzek, for 38 years. Theresa retired from the McKeesport Area School District, where she worked in the cafeteria. Prior to that she worked at McKeesport Hospital, as an escort and in her early years, she worked at Foodland, also in McKeesport. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church, where she was a Christian Mother. She was also a volunteer Pierogi Pincher and worked at the bake sale at the fish fry!!  She sure relished lunches with her dear friends "the church ladies" and her yearly tradition Fourth of July picnics for family and friends.. Theresa loved Polka music and baking. Her "Lady Locks," were second to none! She took the greatest pride in creating and sharing her delicious recipes. Theresa is survived by her children, Fr. Jon J. Brzek of South Park, Barbara (John) Oreski of Level Green and Susan (Ken) Kramer of Chantilly, VA; grandchildren who she loved sharing her Polish  traditions with  Andy, Tad and Jesse Oreski, Melissa (Derek) Lingafelt, Tori and Haley Kramer; sister, Sophie Balawajder of Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Ann Lorenz of Turtle Creek; also nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was preceded in death by her siblings, John Lorenc, Andrew (Mary) Lorenz, Mary (William) Dembski, Stephanie Lorenz, Lou Lorenz, Edward (Courtney) Lorenc and Patricia Lorenc; brother-in-law, Bruno Balawajder. We would like to thank Kayla and Rachel, the angel nurses from Presbyterian Hospital 4G, for their loving compassion and care they gave our Mom and Gramby the last day of her life!
 Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, February 26, 2018, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, 10 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church. Theresa's son, Fr. Jon J. Brzek, will be the celebrant. Committal will follow in St. Mary Polish Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Corpus Christi Church, 2515 Versailles Ave., McKeesport, PA 15132.
