Betty C. (Brown) Smith

Betty C. Brown Smith, age 61, of Dover DE, formerly of McKeesport, died November 14, 2019, at home. Born June 12, 1958, she was the daughter of  Alonzo L. Jr. and Yvonne Mary (Washington) Brown and the wife of Doug Smith Sr. Betty worked as a budget manager for the Internal Revenue Service with 37 years of service. She was a member of the Ebenezer AME Church of Oxin Hill, MD. She enjoyed traveling, live music concerts, dancing, and especially ballet. Betty is survived by her children; Tyra Smith of FL, Stacy Cotton of Houston, TX, Kortney (Nicholas Witt) Smith of Houston, TX, David Smith of Pittsburgh, and Douglas Smith Jr. of NC, grand-children; Aiden, Leah, Kylee, Tristan, Lacina, Danisat, Ationa and Samiah, siblings; Maureen (Minister Marvin) Mays of Davison, MI, and William L. Brown of McKeesport; mother in law, Avis Smith and life long friend, Darlene Johnson of Philadelphia, PA. She is preceded in death by her brother Stuart E. Brown. Special recognition to her Uncle Mr. Edwin Swift, as well as her nieces and nephews; Joseph Johnson of Atlanta, GA, Tanice J. Green, Minister Tekyra M. Green; great-niece and godchild; Uriah M. Green. The family would like to thank all the doctors and staff from Bay Health Hospital on Dover, DE, John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be celebrated Saturday,  November 23, 2019, 11 a.m., at St. Paul AME Church, 1350 Locust St. McKeesport, PA 15132.
