Edith Pavlischek Obituary

Edith (CASE) Pavlischek, age 90, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Glassport, died April 6, 2018, at the South West Veterans Care Center.  Born January 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Katherine (Dodds) Case and the wife of the late Joseph A. Pavlischek.
 Edith was a 1946 graduate of Glassport High School and a 1949 graduate of McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing.  She served as an Army Nurse during the Korean War with the 44th MASH Unit.  She was a nurse at McKeesport Hospital for over three decades and eventually became the Head Nurse of OBGYN at McKeesport Hospital, from where she retired.  She, served as an officer of American Legion Post #443 of Glassport,  was a member of the McKeesport Nurses Alumni Association and was a Charter member of  Women in Military Service Association (WIMSA). Edith was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, McKeesport, PA for over a half-century.
Edith is survived by her children, Keith J. Pavlischek of Annapolis, MD, Wayne A. Pavlischek  of Goose Creek, SC, Katherine( Pavlischek) Case of Towson, MD and Vera Lynne ( Pavlischek ) Case of Baltimore, MD;  nine grandchildren, Justin Pavlischek, Megan Grant, Jenna Asmah, Kimberly Caskie, Joshua Pavlischek, Wayne N. Pavlischek, Elliot Case Schreur , Emma Casehart, Samuel Casehart; and nine great-grandchildren, Sophia, Sydney, and Augustine Pavlischek,  Isaac Grant, Jacob and Kaleigh Asmah,  Abigail Caskie, Connor and Landon Pavlischek.  In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by siblings, Vera C. Ackerman, Audrey R. Reagan and Edward Case.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, April 8, 2018, 1 - 3 p.m. and 5 - 7 p.m.  Funeral service will be Monday, April 9, 2018, 10 a.m., at First Evangelical Free Church, 4001 University Drive, McKeesport  with Pastor Kirk Albrecht officiating.  Burial will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
