Joseph S. Zurovcik, age 91, of Port Vue, died February 25, 2018, at the VA Hospital Oakland. Born September 18, 1926, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Petro) Zurovcik and the husband of Rosetta "Rae" (Brewer) Zurovcik for 63 blessed years. Joseph was retired from US Steel, National Tube Works, where he was a pipe cutter with 42 years of service. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of the Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church, where he volunteered as a "Pierogi pincher." Joseph was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Port Vue American Legion Post #447 and Port Vue Seniors. He was always there to lend a helping hand, no matter what the need entailed. Joseph's true passion was his family. In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his children, Lynda (Louis) Witherspoon of Stephens City, VA, Susan (Paul) Shelly of McKeesport and Michael (Nancy) Zurovcik of Canonsburg, PA; grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Witherspoon, Paul J., Anne, Mary and Beth Shelly; great grandson, Isaac Witherspoon; siblings, Helen Mulac of White Oak and Andrew J. (Pat) Zurovcik of West Newton; also nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Mary, Michael C., Mildred, Dolores and Marlene. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 12:30 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following, 1 p.m., at Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church, Fr. Bruce Sleczkowski will be the celebrant. Inurnment will be in St. Peter and Paul Slovak Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Family PNCC, 1921 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132.
