Albert Kustra Obituary

Albert T. Kustra, age 97, of McKeesport, died March 14, 2023, at Walden’s View of North Huntingdon. Born March 14, 1926, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Ann Kustra and husband of the late Barbara “Betty” (Kowalski) Kustra.
Albert served in WWII in one of Patton’s U.S. Third Army battalions, the 46th AAA AW BN (SP), as an Automatic Weapons Crewman, then later as a Military Policeman in the MCC Area (Ministerial Collection Center in Germany). Afterward, he trained as a Motor mechanic at Ft. Bliss, Texas. After his honorable discharge, he went to work at Fisher Body in West Mifflin for 36 years until he retired.
He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates fan and always enjoyed watching them on television. He rooted for all the Pittsburgh sports teams, but the Pirates were his favorite. Albert was a Mary, Mother of God Parish member and a former St. Mary’s Bowling League member. You could find Albert in his backyard during the summer months, where he grew tomatoes and onions to share with family and friends. Albert is survived by a son, James (Kelley Levi) Kustra; daughter-in-law, Linda Kustra; grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan) McLaughlin, Jeffrey (Alicia) Kustra, and Brian (Olivia) Kustra; great-grandson, Greyson McLaughlin; sisters, Eleanor Todaro and Irene Squires and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Albert was also preceded in death by his sons Thomas Kustra and Joseph Kustra; brothers John Kustra and Walter Kustra; and sister Stella Ruccio.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary Polish Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Polish Club.
