Anthony Alfer Obituary

Anthony G. "Duke" Alfer, age 74, of  McKeesport, died February 27, 2020, at UPMC McKeesport. Born October 4, 1945, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Kandcer) Alfer and the husband of Amy (Webster) Alfer for over 24 years.
Duke was a retired self-employed general contractor. He truly loved his craft and working with his hands. Duke was a US Army veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish and attended Corpus Christi Church. Duke was also a member of the former St. Stephen's Catholic Church, where he was on the Rosary Society and volunteered his time to care for and maintain the church for many years. He enjoyed collecting cars and dolphin figurines, attending car cruises, and making things from wood that his wife and son could paint.
In addition to his wife, Duke is survived by his son, Dan of Christy Park; grandchildren, Dan, Jr., and Bella Kulasa; sister, Patricia "Sissy" (Kenneth) Spencer; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and cousins; many loving friends; and his loyal German Shepherd, "Diesel."
Along with his parents, Duke was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald, Robert, Marsha Chomanics, and Joseph.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, March 2, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church.
