Edward J. Babyak, age 84, of McKeesport, died April 4, 2021, at UPMC East in Monroeville. Born August 23, 1936, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Cuprinkova) Babyak and the husband of Helen K. (Stefko) Babyak for over 55 years.
Ed retired from the City of McKeesport Fire Department, where he was the Deputy Fire Chief, after retiring from the Fire Department he became the Deputy Fire Marshall of Allegheny County. Ed last worked as a School Bus Driver for Gongaware Bus Lines where he was fondly referred to as Mr. B. Edward was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church of McKeesport. He was US Navy veteran serving during peacetime. After retiring from active duty he enlisted in the Naval Reserves as an instructor of electronics. Ed enjoyed discussing politics, the history of the United States, holistic health and serving his community. He was always willing to lend a hand with any household repair jobs big or small and to give advice/discuss any legal, school, or work matter one might encounter.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by children, Brian (Hau) Babyak of Westminster, MD, Lydia (Richard) Cianci of Greenville, PA, and Carleen (James) Neher of Liberty Borough; grandchildren, Edward, David, Paul, and Minnie; great-granddaughter, Arwen; also nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Ed was also preceded in death by his siblings, Dolores Curley, Helen Kugler, John Babyak, and Michael Babyak.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, April 9, 2021, at St.Nichols of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial followed in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
