Herman W. "Hank" Hayes

Herman W. "Hank" Hayes, age 84, of McKeesport, died peacefully on March 5, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital, surrounded by family.  Born June 22, 1936, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Herman W. and Elizabeth (Kohler) Hays and husband of Marlene "Jean" (Johnson) Hayes.
Hank retired as a purchaser from CPI in McKeesport.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran with the 82nd Airborne and a former member of the now inactive McKeesport Sport Parachute Club. Hank was also a member of the McKeesport Gun Club and 11th Ward Club. Hank was known for taking his nieces, nephews, neighbors, and children on road trips and loved any reason for a drive. In his later years, he enjoyed the peace and tranquility that came with sitting on his porch but always found the energy to spend time with his grandchildren.  
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, William M. (Sharon Whittaker) Hayes, of Versailles and Elizabeth H. (Michael) McKee, of Downington; grandchildren, Cailie, Kyla and Allie; sister, Patricia O'Neil, of McKeesport, and nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by siblings Marsha Kiger and James Hayes.  
Family and friends will be received for a memorial gathering at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, March 15, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon.
Inurnment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
