John S. Roberts

John S. "Jack"  Roberts, age 93, of White Oak, died February 4, 2022, at home.  Born March 28, 1928, in Montreal, Canada, he was the son of the late John A. and Anna (Stabler) Roberts and the beloved husband of Glenda (Ryan) Roberts who would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on February 22nd.  
John was a World War II Army Veteran and was honorably discharged in 1949 as a Corporal.  After serving his country, John attended the California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree and then his  Master's Degree in Industrial Arts.  John taught Industrial Arts at South Allegheny High School for 38 years and retired in 1990.  He would then work for Manns Drug Store and Daugherty Tool and Die.  He continued to make things with his hands in retirement, such as meticulously carving chess pieces and a guitar from wood.  He was a HAM Radio Operator, obtained his extra class license going by the call sign AA30Z, and was a Two Rivers Amateur Radio Club member.  John was also a member of First Evangelical Free Church of McKeesport for 18 years and the American Legion Post 712 in Pleasant Hills for 28 years.  
In addition to his wife Glenda, John is survived by children, Crystal (Mark) Stalter and Ryan (Kristy) Roberts; grandchildren, Caitlin (Andy) Molinaro, Joshua Delsardo, Taylor Roberts, and Cody Roberts; brother-in-law, Robert Johnston.  John is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Catherine Vetterly.  
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Roberts.  
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
