John C. Sowa

John C. Sowa, age 91, of White Oak, died December 28, 2018, at his home.  Born October 7, 1927, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Mitro and Emilia (Volota) Sowa.
John was a retired General Motors employee at the former Fisher Body Division plant in Dravosburg and a member of the United Automobile Workers Union.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.  An avid golfer in earlier years, John also enjoyed playing handball at the McKeesport YMCA and cycling.  His recent pastimes included the horse track and casino.
John was a compassionate man and provided support to several charitable causes.
Survivors include his brother, Paul (Alice) Sowa, of Trabuco Canyon, CA; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by siblings, George, Alex, Harry, Mary and Ann.
No visitation is scheduled.  Private committal service will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in North Versailles.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.  Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
