Phillip Spinosi Obituary

Phillip J. Spinosi, age 92, of White Oak, died January 17, 2021, at home. Born September 7, 1928, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Julius and Rose (Borrelli) Spinosi and the husband of the late Mary T. Spinosi.
Phillip retired from US Steel National Tube Works, where he was a rigger with 44 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII, where he was the quarterback of the Navy football team in Pensacola, FL. Phillip was a member of the Mary, Mother of God Parish. He was also a lifelong member of the ISDA Lodge # 57, formerly in McKeesport, for over 70 years. Phillip always had a passion for sports; in addition to football, he played on the Crimson sandlot football team of the 3rd Ward of McKeesport, and as of late Race Walking became his passion. He competed in the Senior Olympics Race Walking, and placed with a Silver Medal Nationally, along with 180 other trophies awarded for competitions throughout his 80's. He was also the commissioner of his Fantasy football league. Phillip enjoyed trips to the beach, especially Wildwood, NJ, and Cancun. He loved his sweets and was known as the King of buffets. Phillip will always be remembered for his sense of humor and the never-ending love he showed his family.
Phillip is survived by his children, Anthony J. Spinosi of North Versailles, Ronald J. (Terri) Spinosi of White Oak, Cindy Spinosi of Port Vue, Lisa Marie (Anthony) Schiavo of McKeesport; grandchildren, Missy, Danielle, Brittany, Alexis, and Roman; great-grandchildren, Brennen, Alyssa, Destenzo, Gianna, Nasir, Syncere, and Adraya; sister, Mary Smith of CA; also many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Phillip was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Susan Spinosi; brother, Joseph Spinosi.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, from 9 a.m. until the time of last leave at 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated immediately following, at Noon, in St. Angela Merici Church. Committal prayers and burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery of Port Vue.
