Richard D. "Dick" Contrella, age 87, of Elizabeth Township, died January 15, 2021, at home. Born August 1, 1933, in McKeesport he was the son of the late Dave and Nellie (Melegari) Contrella and the husband of Jane (Pasternak) Contrella for 65 years.
Dick retired from Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory as a computer programmer. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church and the YMSR. He loved to travel with his wife Jane, especially on cruises, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and making clocks.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his sons, Richard J. Contrella of Franklin Park and Robert (Gloria) Contrella of Valencia; grandchildren, Nathan (Stephany) Contrella, Ben (Taryn) Contrella, Elizabeth (Nico) Baldelli, and James Contrella; great-grandchildren Maxwell and Braxon; and sister, Nancy Arnold of Elizabeth Township.
Family and friends may be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, January 21, 2021, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, 10 a.m. at Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church in McKeesport. Committal service will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in North Versailles.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church.
